Happy Birthday Vicky

Hi There Sweet Friends

Gosh the weather news does not look good across the pond, I do hope my friends there are keeping warm and staying safe. It’s breezy and cold here but otherwise it is beautiful.

A short post today.  This card is for our lovely niece Vicky.  It was a quick card as I’ve let the DCWV Mariposa Matstak PP do all the work.  I think this 6.5 X 4.5  size will be much easier to use on cards then the 12 X 12. I picked up the blue in the printed butterfly to frame my sentiment and added a few more blue MS Butterflies as well. I’ve layered my ribbon over some sparkly tulle. A few tiny flowers and some gems to finish.

I used the same size Spellbinders, Label Three die for the sentiment and the frame. I traced around my die on the blue card with pencil then cut it out by hand, this gives a thinner frame then using the next large die would.

Thank you all for your lovely comments. I do so enjoy hearing from you.

Have an Amazing Day!

  1. Beautiful card. It would have been a shame to cover that gorgeous paper. I have tried cutting the outside of the die for a narrow border but I'm afraid my cutting was not nearly as good as yours and I did not use the piece that I cut. Really lovely card.

    1. Hi Marie-Louise, I use a scissors but Becca uses her craft knife, check out her video. Sanding really helps even things out.

  2. Hi Bernie, your right the weather isn't looking too good across the pond it's really cold here today although the sun was shining it was still cold nice and bright though! your Vicky will love this card so elegent too!:) Sandra H

  3. Hi Bernie

Your niece is going to love this I am sure.

What gorgeous backing papers you have used.

    Love the colours!

    Love Jules xx

    1. Gorgeous card Bernie - elegant as always! I have the Mariposa 8" x 8" stack as really should use it more often, you sure have cracked it! Di xx

  4. Beautiful birthday card, Bernie. I have that paper and it is awesome. I have been doing exactly what you are doing with your die. I made a couple cards recently (don't think they are uploaded yet) and did the same thing. I like it better than the next larger one, too.

  5. oh wow Bernie I love those colours together they work beautifully...your Neice will so love this stunning card

  6. Hi Bernie, I love this card - some papers don't need much in the way of embellishment because they are just so beautiful anyway. Great tip about tracing round the die to create a mat - one to keep in mind. Elizabeth x

  7. FAB card. I like the way your punched out flowers echo the bottom corner flowers. xxx
