Happy International Women’s Day!

Hello Sweet Blog Angels
WOW can you believe it’s March all ready. WOW can you believe it’s Only March. I can’t believe so much has happened this year. On the other hand I can’t believe it’s taken so long to get this far. The good news is as of today I  have only 10 radiation treatments and 1 Chemo treatment to go. I’ll be done in two weeks!!!  Hopefully test result will show the cancer is gone and I’ll be feeling my old self soon.

Jim and I had a few fabulous days. We got to go shopping and out to lunch a few times and breakfast once. We didn’t go anywhere special but we put all our troubles aside for a while and enjoyed each other‘s company.

Seems not a week goes by that something doesn’t go pear shaped for me. Prior to all this I drank ice water 24/7, I just loved the stuff. I never dreamt Chemo would make water taste horrible but it does. As a result I haven’t been drinking enough fluids and got myself dehydrated. My BP dropped down to 66/52. NOT Good. I needed an IV to bring it up. Doctor noticed my heart has begun to skip beats so he ordered an ECG. A nurse told me it’s all good but the print out says ‘Abnormal ECG’ I’m not sure what that means. I’m working hard at drinking enough fluids. The good news is I’ve been able to hold myself at a steady weight.

To add insult to injury I’ve somehow hurt my back. Thankfully I have the best chiropractor on the planet. If you live near Yakima and need one Dr. James Patten is your guy!

Like I said something happens ever week so we try to make the most of the good times and look forward to the end of all this.
I hope you are each enjoying lots of good times and making the best of them.
Love, Hugs & Blessings
Bernie

  4. So glad to see that the treatment is nearly over. My son could not drink plain water so he put some diluting orange into it and drank it by the pint. So good to see that you have remained so positive - keep it up. Take care.

  5. You are well on your way to recovery, Bernie! Yippee!! I'm so sorry about the water tasting horrible and the back problems, but I'm glad you aren't letting it stop you and that you and Jim have managed to get out and have some relaxing times! That's good for the soul and good for replenishing the much-needed energy.

Now, what can we do about replenishing your fluids? I suppose beer is a no-no? Sparkling water? Water with lemon? I'm sure you will get some great tips from others who have been through it. That's the wonderful thing about this online community! We continue to pray for you and pull for you, Bernie! Thanks for taking the time to give us an update! Hugs and love, Darnell

  10. Oh my golly gosh Bernie!! I'm just palying catch up before I go to bed and your post popped up - MADE my day!!

ALmost there honey - so glad for you. I think the foul taste is very normal, but don't know enough to help. Maybe lemon barley or weak cordial would take the edge off it?

And a date with Jim -that sounds like fun - hope you behaved OK :)

    Love and hugs, Di xx

  11. Bernie, just popped over here on the chance you might have a post. Oh my, so good to read this from you. Sorry there are little hiccups along the road, but you are keeping your attitude positive, & time is passing, getting each treatment behind you. I'm so happy for you both that you were able to get out & enjoy some relaxing time. I have heard the 'taste' comes back, so hang in there, and drink as much as you can. Maybe lemon water??Or lime juice in it? Dunno what your tastes are, but you know you gotta keep hydrated. Not long now. Keep up the good work. Prayers & Hugs coming your way.

  12. Hi Bernie - ah like other just popped over and wow that is superb that you only have two weeks to go - and praying hard it will be all clear.

    - well that was one bad BP no wonder they were really concerned but at least the tabs are on the right places, for you, like your heart, etc. pray no lasting damage there as well. Medication can send your heart crazy has happened to me when receiving treatment but is only for duration of meds so probably that is what was meant.

ah and shoulder as well -rest and ice is good for that :D God bless, Bernie, Shaz in Oz.x

  14. I am so pleased that you are nearing the end of your treatments Bernie! I pray that this darn cancer has been ran out by the chemo!! I am glad that you are getting out here and there with your hubby. Please take care of yourself and keep your fluids up. I know it is hard as the chemo doesn't make things taste very appealing but try. We want you better and back to having fun and posting!!! Big hugs to you and thank you for the update!!
